Tools and Quality
May 23, 2008 – 7:35 amWhen purchasing any tool or item which is going into your survival kits, do not skimp. Here is the truth, during an emergency Murphy will rear his ugly head and cause inferior equipment to break or plain fail. Imagine having a knife that that is always dull! Cheap knife blades usually lose their edges after one or two uses, then become dull. You then need to live with the dull knife or take time out to re-sharpen your knife after every few uses – not a wise use of time! Also, if the blade breaks on you, the injuries could be life threatening (especially if you get an infection!) Stick with big names (Gerber, Leatherman, etc. and you won’t be sorry!)
