Quick Note on Water Treatment Chemicals

September 26, 2009 – 2:47 pm

I just want to remind everyone, that if you are planning on storing non-scented bleach for water treatment during an emergency, please remember that you need to change out  the bleach every six months to a year (depending on where you store the bleach.)  The best place to keep the stuff is in a cool, dark place to maximize its shelf  life!

Remember, use 1/8th of a teaspoon per gallon for emergency treatment, and if the water is really nasty, double it!

As part of your home security, you need to be sure to treat the incoming water to your house.  I use a Reverse Osmosis System since the government cannot treat water well enough from poisoning us from excessive chlorine, and drug residues in the drinking water!  For replacement filters, go to www.newROfilters.com to get the filters at a good price!

Also, as part of your emergency preparedness plan, take time to practice treating water and making food from your food storage.  This will keep you thinking strait during times when Crap Hits The Fan!!!

Thanks President Obama for keeping us sooooo safe.
