Site Changes are a Challenge

February 23, 2009 – 7:54 pm

With everything in life, things are constantly changing.  For example, I upgraded the back end of this site (urbansurvivalsecrets.com)  and now I am struggling with getting it to work!  Call it operator error!  The console has changed and I have so little time to figure it out.  Just watch, about the time I figure it out, there will be another change.

Speaking of other changes, I am working on getting some video to add.  Yes, I know I have threatened it before, but with a new video camera, it should be fairly easy to upload now!  My old camera would need to have the disks burned and then transferred and was just a general pain.  With the new Sony camera, I really like it.  Is it a survival tool?  Heck yea.  I can play back videos on the small screen and generaly have a good laugh.  If things get bad, I can take out the Karl Ziess lens and start a fire, provided the sun is out!  I could also short circuit the battery to do the same.  Even easier, I can break a strand of the nichrome wire from my toaster off and use it to create a fire starter as well – gotta think like MacGyver!

Speaking of video, I will be using my son as the person actually doing the examples.  I figure that if a 12 year old can do it, than a majority of adults can too.  Are you smarter than a 6th Grader (cant use the other title without a copyright clause, permission from my lawyer and a not from my discease mother – really tough to get!)

On Another Front, Lets discuss SPAM.  In the past few weeks, I have had a barrage of SPAM!  What do these morons think – writing gibberish and expecting me to accept immediately.  If the comments are proper, I will post.  However, when I do a search for appropriate back links I will nuke them.  Also, I am thinking that a 12 guage shot gun and a clay pigeon launcher may be appropriate as well!

Question of the Day:  What are some of the topics you would like to hear about?  I am interested in what you are wanting to learn!  Drop a note to me via this posting (or any other) and leave a note – also leave your email address.  You never know – if I can get some products to evaluate again, I will mail those out to the folks who are wanting to assist or provide additional topics.  However, as in life, there are no guarantees unless we are talking the Obama Plan of life long taxation or Death!!!!

ONE OTHER THING!!!   If you like this blog, please subscribe to the email – and tell a friend! I  have several classes and more to come.  Also, I will NOT sell, misuse or otherwise release your email address to anyone.  I HATE SPAM, so I will protect you as well.  Along the same lines, If you do subscribe, please remember not to send in a SPAM report when you recieve the email.  Just un-subscribe or drop note on any posting with your email account – I will remove you as soon as I can.  Scouts Honor.

As a parting note, my 16 year old son just completed his Eagle Scout Project.  What does this have to do with Urban Survival?  Well, he has made an area more livable for those who cannot afford it!  After a many problems over the past few years (some of his own doing and some not!) He poured a concrete patio and landscaped an area at the state hospital for the severly disabled.  These folks are the nicest people you could ever meet and the project was very well received.  I want to publicly thank all of the volunteers, DIMAR Concrete and ABLE Concrete for the donations, along with the Bakery Manager at our Local Wal Mart (great donuts!)  The young men completing Eagle Projects on average donate 200+ hours of service time to show leadership skills as project managers.

Millions of dollars with of work is done every year helping the community through these projects.  And the projects cannot benefit business, the Boy Scouts or an Individual.

Have a great evening
