Swine Flu – H1N1
October 19, 2009 – 8:08 amI received an email from one of the Urban Survival Secrets readers about H1N1. She asked why is the government calling it by the strain name instead of the common name!
Truth of the matter – our illustrious government is trying to cool the fear down to make it sound sooo clinical. Yup, it is a marketing job.
This strain of originated with an avian strain which was transferred to pigs which are immunilogically similar to that of us humans.
The thing to remember, this strain is a moving target from what I have read. Its brunt strikes those who have a weakened lung function – that is who is getting killed. The interesting fact of this strain is it gets much deeper in the lungs than the other strains. Sounds like this flu has a smaller spore size!
For now, the best defense is to get plenty of sleep (7 plus per night), eat well with lots of vegetables and wash your hands frequently. Lastly – if someone is showing symptoms – coughing, fever…. stay away! If you think you got it – tell your boss and stay home – this is not a gift worth sharing.
More to come!!!
